DOCUMENTARY: Sheep Among Wolves, Volume II—The Untold Story of the Church in Iran

Source: Frontier Alliance International and Maranatha

“The fastest growing church in the world today has taken root in one of the most unexpected and radicalized nations on earth,” say the producers of this unusual new documentary, built around interviews and music videos.

“Muslim-background Iranians are leading a quiet but mass exodus out of Islam and bowing their knees to the Jewish Messiah—with kindled affections toward the Jewish people. The Iranian awakening is a rapidly reproducing discipleship movement that owns no property or buildings, has no central leadership, and is predominantly led by women. This is their story.”

Though this documentary stands alone, a Volume 1 came out in 2015. Volume II had its online debut just last week. I’m not sure what to make of it! Would be interested in hearing your response.

  1. I was struck (in a good way) by much of this film, especially the narrative given by the Iranian Christians. The negativity towards the church in the west spoken by the professing Western Christians got old. To be sure, the church in the west has issues and things that need to be repented of, as does every church where sinners (like myself) are a part (even in Iran). But the answer isn’t “be more like the church in Iran,” or “Be cool and radical, like us,” which is the consistent voice given by the professing Western Christians in this film. If they make a volume three I hope it’s more of hearing the voice of the Iranian Christians and less of telling us what we’re doing wrong – as though, ‘Finally, we have cool, hip young people with beards and tattoos to get things right! How are there even Christians without them?!” Sorry for the sarcasm but it really did get old while watching this film.

  2. I would love to hear more original stories from the Iranian women-leaders of the movement.

Still, thank you so much for what you guys have done!

    Blessings,
    Susie
