{"id":7684,"date":"2018-02-07T07:43:29","date_gmt":"2018-02-07T12:43:29","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/missionscatalyst.net\/?p=7684"},"modified":"2018-02-07T07:43:29","modified_gmt":"2018-02-07T12:43:29","slug":"thailand-sacred-ink","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/missionscatalyst.net\/?p=7684","title":{"rendered":"THAILAND: Sacred Ink?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source: International Mission Board, January 29, 2018<\/p>\n<p>When I moved with my family to Thailand a few years ago, I began noticing an abundance of tattoo parlors, many advertising \u201cbamboo tattoos.\u201d I soon learned that bamboo tattoos are known in the local language as <em>sak<\/em> <em>yant<\/em>, which translates literally, \u201ctattoo of sacred image.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Sak Yant has gained worldwide fame. The tattoos are considered fashionable and are sought after by many who travel to Thailand. But it is important to understand the spiritual implications of the tattoos.<\/p>\n<p>Khun Pat, a Christian who once practiced sak yant extensively, cautions, \u201cFor people who want to be involved with sak yant, they need to know this\u2014it is not an art form. You open the door for something really dark to come into you.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Khun Pat testifies to the deliverance from sak yant he found in Christ. \u201cWhat Jesus gave me is not the power to hurt people, not to harm people; but what he gave me was the power to love people. Sak yant is darkness\u2014it will destroy you long term.
