I learned that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.drikpanchang.com\">Hindu festivals<\/a> take place somewhere in India 255 days of the year! This does not include secular\/national or cultural holidays like Punjab\u2019s \u201c<a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=EexEcNjPS_E\">rural Olympics<\/a>\u201d (don&#8217;t miss it!). I was privileged to witness the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibtimes.com\/pulse\/magh-mela-2015-thousands-pilgrims-bathe-holy-waters-hindu-festival-photos-1788540\">Magh Mela<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Sankranti\">Sankranti<\/a> in India last month. I believe Indians know how to celebrate like no other culture.<\/p>\n<p>Though Hindu extremists warn couples not to celebrate <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ibtimes.co.uk\/valentines-day-2015-extremist-hindu-group-threatens-forcibly-marry-couples-celebrating-1486741\">Hindu extremists warn couples not to celebrate Valentine&#8217;s Day<\/a> with all of its Western trappings, some apparently celebrate a whole <a href=\"http:\/\/www.valentineweeklist.in\/2013\/10\/valentine-week-list-2014-dates-schedule.html#.VOPoVPnF_mc\">Valentine&#8217;s WEEK<\/a>!<\/p>\n<p>Mardi Gras and Lent have come while I\u2019ve been wrapping up this edition of Newsbriefs, and the Chinese are beginning the year of the sheep\/goat.<\/p>\n<p>Holidays and festivals say a lot about a people. What do they value? What are the stories behind these \u201cfeast days?\u201d<\/p>\n<p>If any of this stirs your interest, check out <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theworldfestival.net\/\">this website<\/a>.
