{"id":4650,"date":"2014-06-04T08:30:27","date_gmt":"2014-06-04T15:30:27","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/missionscatalyst.net\/?p=4650"},"modified":"2014-06-04T08:31:15","modified_gmt":"2014-06-04T15:31:15","slug":"central-african-republic-radio-station-brings-hope","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/missionscatalyst.net\/?p=4650","title":{"rendered":"CENTRAL AFRICAN REPUBLIC: Radio Station Brings Hope"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Source: <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mnnonline.org\/\">Mission Network News<\/a>, May 5, 2014<\/p>\n<p>While the civil war in the Central African Republic leaves thousands dead and tens of thousands fleeing for their lives, a Christian shortwave radio station in Boali is sharing a message of hope throughout the nation.<\/p>\n<p>Jay Hocking, communications director of <a href=\"http:\/\/icdinternational.org\/\">Water for Good<\/a> (a ministry partner of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.reachbeyond.org\/\">Reach Beyond<\/a>) says, &#8220;Our staff there has developed programming focused on peace and reconciliation, and they&#8217;re bringing in special speakers and religious leaders. Our radio station is the most-listened-to station in the country.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>The radio staff members recently attended a conference in [an area where Christians are violent toward Muslims]. &#8220;The conference focused on encouraging Christians to love their Muslim neighbors, take care of them, and protect them, encouraging people to think about how they could demonstrate Christ&#8217;s love to their Muslim neighbors.&#8221; Several important men from [the capital] Bangui spoke at the conference. Radio staff members are hoping respect for the important men will lead to people paying attention and making some changes.<\/p>\n<p>Conflicts began more than a year ago after Muslim rebel leader Michel Djotodia took power in a mostly Christian country leading to violence and revenge killings because of religion and ethnicity.
