Bethany House Publishers, 2008, 208 pages.

When most American Christians think of Islam, they see a sect of people mired in radical beliefs and hatred for the West. But nothing could be further from the truth, says Carl Medearis.

Muslims, Christians, and Jesus provides practical information and fascinating stories to help the reader learn culturally sensitive ways to get to know Muslims on a personal level. Rather than focusing initially on the differences between Islam and Christianity, Medearis shows how common ground is the best foundation for friendships and for hearts turning to Jesus.

More information here.

You can get this book (among other places) from Christian Book Distributors for US$10.99 here. And Noel’s husband, well-known preacher John Piper, has given many sermons on mission-related topics. You might want to download a few for encouragement. They fall in love with the place and the people. We must work together to change this trend, however, because the primary result seems to be that most new missionaries continue to go where the majority of missionaries are already serving – that is, in the reached parts of the world.”

Our friends at Go Connect recently highlighted this article in their helpful digest, Daily Connections. It’s an academic paper published by the e-magazine Global Missiology (which among other things means it is fairly long, deep, and has good footnotes). GM also publishes (different) articles in Chinese, Vietnamese, and French. Look for Spanish in 2009.

Follow the link above, or download an easier-to-read (formatted) 165 kb PDF version here.

SURVEY – Exploring the Digital/Security Divide

Source: John Edmiston, Cybermissions

Those of you who are with an international mission agency (e.g., missionaries and sending agency staff), can you lend John a hand?
