BOOK – ‘Live Life on Purpose’ by Claude Hickman

From: Missions Mobilisation Network – August 13, 2004

Live Life on Purpose: God’s Purpose. Your Life. One Journey, by Claude Hickman

Your life only makes sense in the context of God’s plan to finish the Great Commission. God has given us the direction we need to make our lives count and leave our mark on eternity. When we find it, we move from merely existing to truly living life on purpose.

“Awash in spiritual truth and marinated by a God-centered life, Live Life on Purpose is an invitation to humanity to comprehend why they are breathing.” – Neil McClendon, Obed’s House Ministries.

The author, Claude Hickman, is the assistant director for The Traveling Team, a national missions mobilization movement. He and his wife, Rebecca, travel ten months of the year, speaking to thousands of students at college campuses, conferences, and churches in the U.S., casting vision for the evangelization of the world.

EVENT – Commission 2004 in Nairobi, Kenya

From: Missions Mobilisation Network – August 13, 2004

Commission is a mission convention organized once every three years by FOCUS, primarily for African college and university students. It seeks to expose the importance and urgency of God’s mission in the world and thereby assist delegates who are seeking God on what they can do in his mission.

How would Jesus execute God’s mission in Africa today amid all the challenges facing the continent? In exploring the model of Jesus in mission, the thrust of the convention is to draw the delegates’ attention to the urgency of mission, the context within which that mission has to be accomplished, and how best to do it.

The latest student mission convention for delegates from East, Central, and Southern Africa is scheduled to take place in Nairobi, Kenya from December 29, 2004 to January 4, 2005.

The main Bible expositor will be Dr. Lindsay Brown (U.K.), General Secretary of the International Fellowship of Evangelical Students. Other speakers include Peter Kuzmic (Croatia) – “Peace Building and Conflict Resolution,” Ambassador Nancy Kirui (Kenya) – “Governance and Mission,” and Caeser Molebatsi (South Africa) – “Mission in the Context of Poverty.”

The site was developed by the Woman’s Missionary Union (WMU) as a way to offer college women a place to learn about being Christ followers and to participate in missions and ministries on campus, in communities, and around the world. New articles related to missions are posted on the site every week.

Some of the features included on the Missions Interchange web site are:
1. WorldView – articles about current topics in missions and ministry work around the world.
2. Going Deeper – Bible studies related to missions.
3. Exploring the Call – information to help you explore God’s call to missions.
4. Student Spotlight – highlights a student involved in ministry on campus and in her community.
